Urban Platter Sliced Gherkins, 670g [Drained Weight 360g, Pickled, Perfect for Burgers]
The Gherkin is a fruit similar in form and nutritional value to a cucumber. It is a smaller variety and is traditionally used to make pickles. Pickling is a process that uses a brine solution to preserve food. A pickled gherkin will be crispier than a pickled cucumber.
When gherkins are soaked in a brine solution, the solution takes the place of the water, which changes the texture of the gherkin.
Different spices and herbs are added to a brining solution that can make it garlicky, spicy, sweet or a combination of flavours.
Gherkins are usually enjoyed as a side dish or accompaniment with sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs and bread. Gherkins may be added to soups, salads and vegetable stir fry.

The pickled gherkins are sweet in taste and we ended up picking them out of our burgers. Gherkins for burgers and sandwiches are usually tangy and savoury but these were quite sweet and just ended up lying on the side of our plates. Not sure what to do with the whole bottle now.
